Internet Marketing Strategies SEO Services Vs PPC

Posted by Kath Dawson in Internet Marketing

When a company starts to market on the internet, one of the goals it should try to fulfill is to try and get as much visitors to a site. The more visitors a site can get, the better the chances that it will make more sales which will drive up revenue. There are two different ways that a company can do this:

Pay Per Click

This a method of internet marketing online to make money where a company or individual earns a royalty or commission every time an individual user clicks on a specified link.

Advantages

It’s very quick to setup

When this method is used, there is no need to setup a site or even create articles to direct a user to a specified site. One of the things that slows many companies and individuals down is time it takes to setup website or blog. When this strategy is used, no site has to be built or articles have to be written. One needs to simply create an account with a search engine that supports this strategy and create an ad campaign.

Highly targeted visitors

This is one big advantage of using this strategy, a company can target the users it wants to reach with their specific ad campaign. Advertising will only be shown to people who are looking for a specific item or topic. Specific keywords would need to be considered when generating the campaign.

Disadvantages

It costs money

Pay-Per-Click may not always be cheap, but this depends on the keywords that are bid on. If there are a lot of people bidding on a keyword, chances are good that the price to bid on the keyword will be more. When this strategy is used, a company or individual will have to pay for each click it receives for a certain ad campaign. If a company is not careful, it could potentially lose a lot of money if the keywords and the strategies used are not efficient.

There are no guarantees

Many new online marketers have this illusion that if they setup a pay-per-click campaign and pay the ad fees that they will generate tons of money. Merely paying the fees will not guarantee anything. It’s possible that the users looking for certain keywords may not be interested in purchasing your product or people may have clicked it by mistake. In other words, it’s a wasted click and whether they buy or not, a company is still responsible for paying the cost of the click.

Search Engine Optimisation

In a nutshell, it’s simply the use of different online methods to help improve a web page’s search engine ranking results.

Advantages

Doesn’t cost too much

When a site first goes up, it will usually not rank in the first few pages. All that is needed is to optimise the page of a site with the proper use of keywords. The next thing that needs to be done is to build links back to the site. If there are a lot of good quality links that lead back to a company’s site, it will improve the page rankings immensely.

More long-term

This method is not a quick solution, but it will have a good long-term effect on a company. If done consistently and with the proper strategies, a company could potentially rank high for a lot of quality keywords which will mean even more traffic.

Disadvantages

It takes time

This is not a quick solution, but if it has a vision to be a leader online in the long-term, this could be the ideal solution. Help can also be had from companies that offer SEO services.

Internet marketing has become an art form for many companies in the last few years. Some of the strategies employed by many companies are quite innovative. But, the strategies used follow either the SEO or PPC principles. One should be cautious when using Pay-per-click because if used incorrectly, it could cause an organization to spend thousands without receiving the proper benefits or potentially none. SEO does take time, but with proper planning and with the help of companies that offer SEO services, the time to implement this strategy can be reduced drastically.

How to Select the Right SEO Company

Posted by Kath Dawson in SEO

Many companies that want to employ SEO strategies usually do it as a way to not only save money, but as a way to build a solid online presence. However, if a strategy is implemented and not done correctly, a company may not receive the full benefits that it needs. Not only that, it may also take them longer than need be. Working with the right SEO consultants will help a company meet their needs and do it in a timely fashion. Before working with any company a company should do several things before it decides to work with one.

Make a list of objectives and goals

A company should define what it is they are trying to achieve. A clearly defined goal, with respect to building an online presence, will help a company to look for partners that will help them to achieve those goals much quicker. A good SEO company will usually be able to help clearly define its objectives with regards to site optimization.

Talk to various people and get recommendations

A good place to start is to talk to people or other companies that have used these services before. A good place to talk to different people is in online forums. This is a great place to not only get some good leads on good SEO, but to also talk to people that have actually used them before. A lot of the feedback given is great because it’s honest. Opinions may vary, but a company can read the different comments and make their own decision. One can even participate in the forum and ask any questions.

Look for great testimonials

One good indicator that a company can get the job done is a bunch of great customer testimonials. Testimonials are very hard to manipulate. A great testimonial will usually signify that a job or service was performed quickly and provided the needed results. That’s the bottom line, getting results. One should look at the testimony given and see how the company performed for them.

Look at its customers

Good SEO consultants will have a good base of customers that they work with on a regular basis. Some of the best ones list all the companies they have worked with and the services that they had provided. If a company, helps other companies improve page rank, they will have a page that will show the keywords the customer was trying to rank for and then show the actual page rank results. What may be included is the search engine that the keyword was ranking in.

There are some that would have built an expertise in a specific niche. The big advantage when working with a company that has worked with other companies in a similar niche is that they know what worked for other companies and the things that didn’t. They will be able to bring this to the table and let a company know the strategies that are most effective.

Review service offerings

Many good companies will offer a wide range of digital marketing strategies. It’s possible that a company really doesn’t have a clue what they are doing in this area. A good partner is one that can offer a wide range of services. They will also have certified consultants that will be able to discuss a company’s individual needs and goals.

Shortlist a few candidates

Once a company has looked at the list above, it should then start filtering the companies that they could potentially partner up with. A few things must be considered: cost, results and expertise. It also needs to consider how long it will take to achieve the goals. It’s suggested to cut down the list to three to five potential candidates and then have an internal meeting with all the stakeholders.

Digital marketing services is something that every company should consider. An SEO company that has provided results for other companies and has a good team of SEO consultants will usually deliver on the promise made to their clients. Consider all the options above before any decision is made.

SEO UK Strategies – How Website Optimisation Has Affected Sites Over The Years

Posted by Kath Dawson in SEO

In the later part of the mid nineties, web site creators simply needed to submit the page’s address or URL to a search engine; the search engine would check the page or “crawl” with “spiders”. The spider had a vital role in helping to try index the site. It would simply retrieve the page info and store it on the search engine’s server. Basic pieces of information would then be retrieved like page information: words used and the location they were used at in the page. It would also check the number of times the word was used.

Value was seen early by many site owners of having a site that had good page ranking. Many webmasters caught on to this simple algorithm. Many seized the moment and quickly implemented these early website optimisation strategies to rank highly. As competition grew, so did the techniques used. This competition inspired a few people to create tactics that exploited the weakness of the search engine. This is how black hat tactics were born. Site developers simply loaded web pages with desired keywords. Then they would load the meta tags with similar keywords and submit them. Within a few days, a page could be ranked quite highly. Keyword density was something that could be controlled without any form of online policing.

Search engines had become aware of this and quickly made changes to ensure that relevant pages were displayed for search results. This put a little damper on sites that used tactics that were not on the up and up. More and more, search engines improved algorithms that were more complex which made it more difficult for web masters.

In 1998, page rank was developed and it measured the number of quality links that led back to a site. This was developed with the idea that a site could be accessed by a random web user. These were only estimates, but it was the basis for ranking highly. The more quality links a page had, the higher it would rank. People also caught on to this algorithm and tools were built to quickly create hundreds, even thousands, of links in a short amount of time. Link farms were born, another example of a shady website optimisation strategy.

By the early part of 2000, a few of the top search engines, including Google, started creating more complicated algorithms to fight the link spamming problem. In the past they had shared the changes in their formula, but because of the abuse seen, many decided to keep the algorithms to themselves and decided not to disclose it to the public. Many companies that offered SEO service had to do a bit of research to stay competitive.

From that time till today, search engines have been making slight modifications to their equations to ensure that relevant content and search results are displayed to the user. For many SEO UK companies that use SEO strategies, it can be a little frustrating because when a company or individual finally understands the way a search engine works, a change is made and an adjustment must be made to go with the changes. It can be a little frustrating for some, but if the basic premise is understood, then a company will be able easily adapt without much interruption. That is the reason why black hat tactics should never be used because search engines could potentially pull out the plug on a specific algorithm or change it. If the basis of a site’s SEO marketing campaign is based on a black hat strategies, it could be rudely awakened one day. A few SEO UK companies can help one avoid this problem. The right use of SEO service should always be considered.

A company that is serious about building a web presence online really need to consider using tactics for the long haul. There are various SEO service companies and website optimisation consultants that can help many businesses optimise web pages to improve page ranking. The SEO UK Consultants Group is one example of a company that can help any business with their web optimisation needs.

5 Proven Ways To Increase Sales Using Search Engine Marketing

Posted by Kath Dawson in Internet Marketing

Keyword research is one of the most important aspects when it comes to marketing online. This is the one thing that will determine the success of a search engine marketing campaign. When people search for information online, they usually use set of words to describe the topic, product or service. There are keywords that get tons of search volume every month while others only get a limited number of searches.

When selecting keywords for a marketing campaign, it’s best not to use keywords that don’t get a lot of monthly searches. If a company focuses on these keywords, it will be wasting a lot of time and effort on keywords that will not generate much traffic. A company should not also focus on keywords that get a high volume of traffic but is saturated with a bunch of competitors. The chances will be almost impossible if the site has not been fully established and has limited back-links. A company should also select keywords while consider their target audience.

Site Design

Once a company has determined the keywords it would like to rank for, it needs to evaluate the design of the site. Each page must be optimised such that the selected keywords are used on specific pages. One should not try to rank for a bunch of different keywords on one page. It should be spread out throughout the different pages. Ideally, each individual page should target to have 1 to 3 different keywords to rank for. The best would be to optimise each individual page to rank for one keyword.

A company should also make sure that the site navigation is properly structured. Each individual page  should link to the landing page.

Landing Page

The landing page should have all the unique selling points clearly stated and laid out. The page should also be optimised such that the top keywords are used. This includes optimising any sales copy on the site accordingly.

Link Building

This strategy can be used to help drive free traffic to a site. When employing a link building strategy, one should not use tactics that could potentially get it penalized or even banned from a site. There is a misconception that the more links, the better. It’s better to have a few deep quality links to a website than have thousands of low quality links from thousands of unrelated sites.

The best way to build good quality links is to create articles and use anchor text as links leading back to the target site. Not only will a link lead back to a company’s site, but it will also have the keyword that the company is trying to rank for. A company should not only try to build links back to the main page, but to several different pages. This will provide better coverage. If this is done consistently, it will improve the sites rank in no time. This will translate in a lot of free search traffic. There are a few link building services that can help.

PPC

Besides building back links, potentially with the help of link building services, it can also employ a pay-per-click or PPC strategy. This will add another dimension to the online marketing strategy. This is one of the quickest ways of getting traffic to a site, but it’s not free. A company will have to select a search engine to work with. If proper keyword research has been done, it can potentially drive a ton of targeted traffic to a site. Bids are made on specific keywords. If a user searches for a specific keyword, it will be displayed on the first page. If a user clicks on the advertising, it will take them to the company’s site and the company will be charged for the click.

Some of the strategies listed above will take some time, like link building. But there are link building services that can help a company to reduce the time to implement this strategy. There are also several SEO services, UK based, that can help. If a company properly implements the search engine marketing strategies listed above, it will improve the company’s online presence and drive more visitors to the site.

SEO Link Building Strategies That You Should Avoid

Posted by Kath Dawson in Link Building

When a new website or blog is created, it’s very important to have people visit. One may have the best product or content, but if no one can find the website, then only a limited number of people will be able to benefit.

There are several ways that one can get people to a site. A company can advertise on different websites to get awareness out, but over time, it may be a little costly, especially if a company has a limited budget to work with.

Building links is one great way to improve a website’s ranking. This is a popular SEO strategy. Links can often be compared to the number of roads or highways that lead to a town. The more roads that lead back to a town, the more likely it will get visitors. Search engines work on the same premise, if it sees a bunch of quality links from different high ranking, quality sites, it will see that the site as an authority site and give it a good ranking in the search engines. Though this is a good method for improving page rank, one must realize that there are strategies that will also get a site penalized and should be avoided at all costs.

Link Spam

This search engine optimisation strategy is used when a company or individual goes to forums, blogs and random sites to submit content and a link back to their site. A good example of this is when an individual leaves a comment with a link back to their site. This is not the best strategy to use, especially if the site where the comment left wasn’t related in any way to the target site, has poor ranking or is a link farm.

Purchasing Links

When a company employs a tactic like this, it purchases links. The ranking and the number of outbound links of the linking site will determine the cost that should be paid. One has the option of purchasing links that have a desired link text. Using this strategy could be dangerous because some search engines, like Google, don’t support this tactic. Google actually looks for sites that sell links and will ban them. Any companies that had purchased links from the banned site will lose all the links that were purchased.

Connecting to Link Farms

A link farm is a site that has a bunch of outbound links. Google frowns on link farms. Avoid creating sections on a page that link out to a bunch of different sites. This is a strategy that is used to trade links with another site. Sites that link to low quality sites, like link farms will lose credibility very quickly and page rankings will suffer.

Building Links Too Fast

One strategy that will put a website on the radar is using strategies that build links too fast. It’s normal for many sites to link to a site, but if it is done too quickly, it will not seem natural to the search engines. Make sure that when using link strategies, to build it at a consistent pace. If a strategy has been set to build 100 links for one week; do not build a thousand links the next. This will not seem natural and will get a site penalized.

Search Engine Optimisation or SEO strategies should be a part of every company’s strategy. When a company has optimised its pages such that it comes out ranking number one for specific highly search keywords, it will almost guarantee that a lot of visitors will be taking a look at the site. For a company to rank on the first page in many search engines, it should employ link building strategies to quickly improve a site’s rankings. But, before a company sets out to build links, it should review the strategies above carefully. These should be avoided at all costs because many of them will not improve page ranking and a site’s rankings will usually suffer.
